King Nothing

Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one around

Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle’s crumbling
And you’re left with just name

Where’s your crown, King Nothing?
.
Val’kyr carrying away your raid members.  Void zones that get worse the more you stand in them.  Exploding ghosts. Images of your “friends” trying to kill you.  All of these combined into one very long, very epic encounter.  If you were one of the many that decided to go ahead and watch the cut scene before you defeated The Lich King…shame on you, you missed out.  Short video of the end of the fight (and some other thoughts on the final raid encounter to come at borsked.com.
.
BRM, the Kingslayers
.
We aren’t done yet. Onward and upward to hard mode and completing the last Glory of the Raider Achievement.  Recruitment-wise, we’re on the lookout for another shadow priest and moonkin that can put out the DPS (relatively speaking of course).

Some bosses are memorable for their voice acting in a good way.  Malchazzar comes to mind, Illidan, Brutallus, and recently, Professor Putricide.  There are also some mobs that are so bad you have to turn off the sound just to be able to do the fight.Quite honestly this is the only fight that has been that bad.

Also, with this kill Dalmare is now just a handful of shards from moving onto the final stages of crafting Shadowmourne.  May the RNG roll our way.

Good thing we put an end to that and now…

One more step remains (then we get to do it again on hard mode).

I am vampyr!

More blood from the Blood Queen!
.
Good to get back to an old fashioned DPS race encounter.  With our full DPS roster in place, the Blood Queen was little more than a spiky speed bump.  Only Frostwing Lair stands between BRM and the Lich King.

Battle on heroes.

Just another lesson learned

Limited attempts be damned.
Lagging instance be damned.
Weird abomination bugs be damned.

The Plagueworks are clear. What a rush for a normal mode boss. Crimson Halls next week!

And so it begins…

This was one of the smoother patch days in recent memory.  The first few bosses in Icecrown Citadel really show that this is going to be a great instance.  It’s just a bit sad it’s going to take us months to beat down the gates for each wing. Such is the new age of WoW raiding.  We’ll take another (very modest) Server First. Twenty-eight days until some more content.

The Autumn Wind

Blogged by sovelis as Boss Downed! — sovelis Fri 20 Nov 2009 12:00 am
“The autumn wind is a pirate,
blustering in from sea.
With a rollicking song, he sweeps along,
swaggering boisterously.
..
His face is weather-beaten.
He wears a hooded sash.
With a silver hat about his head,
and a bristling black moustache.
..
He growls as he storms the country.
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
as he robs them of their gold.
 ..
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
pillaging just for fun.
He’ll knock you ’round and upside-down,
and laugh when he’s conquered,
 ..
and Won”
– Steve Sabol, as read by John Facenda

Another instance is in the books.  Excellent work and hats off to those who put in time, but were not in for the final kill. It took more attempts (and several heartbreaking <3% wipes....get it?) than we may have liked, but we kept it focused and got the job done.
..
Now it’s time to refine our game and turn in a tribute to (mad) skill and take a stab at Insanity. Icecrown awaits.

This one has been kind of a long time coming, but here it is.  I’ve said in this space that I thought Firefighter was the best fight in WotLK, and I still think that from an overall perspective.  However, dodging/grabbing balls is a lot of fun and I’ll give it first place in the Neat Mechanics category.

Looking for some Deathknights(gasp!) and Rogues.  Also looking to flesh our roster out in general in preparation for Icecrown Citadel.

Sending out an S.O.S

Congrats BRM, the Astral Walkers
.
Ulduar is finally complete and the Trial of the Grand Crusade is nearly over.  In a few short months the forces of the Alliance and Horde will be ready to assault Icecrown Citadel.  Until then, we’ll refine our game inside the Argent Coliseum.

Recruitment is still open, join up!

Perfect Insanity

Blogged by sovelis as Boss Downed! — sovelis Thu 24 Sep 2009 6:02 pm

Well, not perfect, but damn close. I usually keep 10 man stuff off of the front page since we’re a 25 man focused guild, but I think a server first is worthy of a space here. We also haven’t really posted an Anub’arak kill shot because the 25 man normal version just doesn’t do the crypt lord justice. Congrats to Panelli on her new Argent Warhorse.

The definition of Posterity

You don’t get the chance all that often to kill the same bosses again [sic], so we’ll make a special post even if the boss is on the easy side.  Here’s a video from then in early 2006, and here’s a video from now.  Eerily similar.  Clicking back through the links and browsing the kill shots is like opening a time capsule; hitting 88 and going straight back in time. January 5th, 2006, WoW less than 3 months past it’s one year anniversary, BRM begins logging it’s raiding conquests.
3.5 years and counting.  Here’s to more epic screen-shots.
“…I try to keep commentary out of these posts, but I’m real proud of you guys. We have been tearing it up recently, and it’s been a blast doing it.

Here is Onyxia “resting” in her lair:” –Duthan, 9 SEPT 2006
